"Carlos Sierra arrived in the United States as a political refugee from Cuba in 1989. He was incarcerated at East Jersey State Prison and in ICE detention at the Essex County Correctional Facility. Currently, he works part-time as a program associate with First Friends of NJ & NY and is enrolled in the Criminal Justice Program at the Bergen County Community College and the Aspiring Scholars and Professionals Program at Princeton University."
